Tiramisu is one of my top two favorite desserts. If you ask my friends they will tell you that when we go out to dinner I will either order tiramisu or creme brûlée. I’ve been thinking about a spin on tiramisu for a while and when the opportunity to do a recipe with a group of great food bloggers for the #southersummerflavors post on Instagram came to life, I knew this was the recipe I wanted to share! Nothing says summer or southern than peaches. You are going to love this recipe. Trust me!

1 Angel Food Cake *homemade or store bought. Your choice!
4 peaches, sliced, about 2-3 cups
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 container mascarpone cheese
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
peach simple syrup *make about 30 minutes before you are ready to layer the dessert
Peach Simple Syrup
1/2 sliced peach
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
In a small sauce pan add the peach slices, sugar and water. Bring to a boil then simmer for 15-20 minutes, cool, then set to the side.
Cinnamon Mascarpone Filling:
In a bowl fitted with the whisk attachment add the whipping cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Whip the ingredients until soft peaks form or you get a whipped cream consistency. Add in the mascarpone cheese and mix until incorporated into the whipped cream.
Slice the angel food cake into about 8-10 slices. In a 8×8 dish, fill the bottom of the dish with about half of the angel food cake. Brush the cake with the peach simple syrup, then add a layer of sliced peaches then a layer of the cinnamon mascarpone filling. Repeat another layer of angel food cake, peach simple syrup, peaches and mascarpone whipped cream. Refrigerator for about an hour then serve and top with more sliced peaches. Enjoy!
