Delicious Peaches

I’m a South Carolina girl, born and raised and I’m very proud that South Carolina ranks 2nd in peach production behind California which is 1st. Georgia, aka, the “Peach State” ranks 3rd and has some pretty darn good peaches as well! However, last week I was so happy to get my hands on some fresh South Carolina peaches that I could hardly contain myself. I was equally as happy to find a great new recipe to use these delicious peaches, but wait, I’m getting ahead of myself. :-)

Ahhh, peaches. Many great recipes come to mind when I think of this fruit. Peach cobbler, peach pie, fried peach pies, peach ice cream, the list goes on. Frankly, I don’t even have to eat peaches wrapped in sugar, I can just eat them alone as a snack because they are just that good when in season.  Like I mentioned, I did take time to make a delicious new peach recipe last week. The recipe was for peach bread that I found it via I am Mommy. I was excited to find the recipe because it gave me the chance to fulfill one of my dessert bucket list items which was to make a new bread recipe.

Peach Bread adapted from allrecipes.com

2 cups white sugar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup room temperature butter

2 cups AP flour

3 eggs

2 1/2 cups peaches peeled and sliced (about 5 peaches)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking soda

Preheat oven to 350

Cream together butter and both sugars. Add beaten eggs, peaches, salt, cinnamon, flour, and baking soda. Stir until combined.

Pour into prepared dish.

I used 2 loaf pans and had some batter left over for a few muffins. I cooked the bread for about an hour, but watch it as you know that oven cook times vary.

Take a peek at the final results.

Peach Bread

The bread was a hit with my family! My Aunt Jackie described how the bread turned out best when she said, “It reminds me of bread pudding” and she couldn’t have been more correct! So you know what that meant? Had to buy ice cream and add it along side the bread and I must say it was Fab-u-lous!! The reason I believe the bread was so moist was because I took time to squeeze the cut peaches so all those juices really went to work in keeping the bread moist.

Peach Bread & Ice Cream

Since the bread turned out super moist, I didn’t need the peach simple syrup that I made to pour over the bread. So, being the Southern girl that I am, I decided to use the syrup to make peach iced tea. I know right? It was delicious!!

Peach Simple Syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

1 peach diced

Cook water, sugar and peaches on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Let the mixture cool for a few hours then add it to freshly brewed tea.

What’s your favorite peach recipe? Please share and let me know if you decide to make this delicious summer bread.

You had me at peach!! I’m envisioning a slice of peach bread with a slathering of cream cheese. I absolutely love flavored teas and peach tea is one of my favorites. Isn’t it great to live in the land of peaches??

So you made it?! It looks soooo yummy! I forgot to tell you that I made the banana cake that you featured a few weeks ago and even though the flavors were great, it didn’t look at all like the one in the picture so I didn’t even go there!

    Keep the recipes coming!! :)

Hi Monica, yes I made the peach bread and it was delicious! So cool you made the banana cake! I haven’t tried it yet, but I know yours tasted really good. Don’t worry about how it looks, I will just wait for the pictures of the cookies. :-) I will keep the recipes coming lady!
